Steven Gerrard, a Liverpool player, has been named
the new captain of the English National football team. Gerrard, a powerful midfielder is expected to player a significant role for the England national team during
the fourth coming Euro 2012.
The decision was taken by the current England coach Roy Hodgson. He was quoted as saying “I’m counting on him to help me and
build the team unity and environment”. Roy was appointed recently as the head coach
to replace Capello.
England plays two friendlies with Norway and
Belgium before their opener against France in June 11
